NCT test booking in Ireland can be completed easily online for all NCTS test centres. The National Car Testing Service (NCTS) recommends booking early. This helps you avoid delays and ensures you meet legal requirements.
To protect customers and staff, NCTS has introduced safety measures at all test centres. These include social distancing, limited contact, and enhanced cleaning. You can read more about these procedures in the official NCTS FAQs.
In April 2021, the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport announced a 4-month extension for vehicles with test dates on or after 28th March 2020. NCTS has updated all records to reflect this. However, vehicles first registered on or after 1 August 2016 do not qualify for the extension.
Drivers should use the Check NCT Due Date tool to confirm their new test date. This is important, especially if your test was previously extended.
Please note: if you book a test more than 90 days before your due date, it counts as a voluntary early test. In that case, the NCT certificate is valid for 1 or 2 years (depending on the age of the vehicle) from the date of the test.
As you go through the NCT test booking process, read all website messages carefully. These instructions help you avoid mistakes during booking.
